Images from Bynder
Every image on this page loads from dam.activebrands.com. Nothing is stored in the repo or on Vercel.
Bynder resizes, crops, recolours and re-encodes each file when it is requested, then caches it on its CDN.

1. Sizes: ask only for the pixels you need
The same photo at five widths, all as WebP. The file size under each picture is measured live in your browser. The last one is the full original.

3. Shapes and crops
Rectangular crops are done by Bynder (transform:fill, width, height), so a 3:1 banner downloads as a 3:1 file, not a full photo cropped by CSS. Non-rectangular shapes are CSS applied on top.

4. Focus points: keep the subject in frame
When a wide photo is cropped to a banner or a tall slot, the default crop is the centre, which often cuts off the faces.
Bynder can crop around a point you choose with &focuspoint=x,y (each value from 0 to 1, from the top left),
or around one of nine anchors with ,gravity:top. The point is part of the URL, so each placement on the site can use its own.
If a URL has neither, Bynder picks its own default crop, shown in the first column. A focus point saved on the asset in Bynder did not change that default when tested, so the site has to pass the point itself.
The photo and the points used
- Focus on the left skier (0.49, 0.20)
- Focus on the right skier (0.62, 0.12)
- Focus on the hands and device (0.52, 0.52)
Same photo, four slot shapes, five focus choices
Anchors and a portrait photo
A tall portrait cropped to 16:9. The centre crop shows the jacket. An anchor or a focus point brings the head into the frame.
5. Gallery
Responsive srcset with AVIF, WebP and JPG. The browser chooses the width. Open the lightbox and use the arrows, the keyboard or swipe to go through all images on this page.
6. Eligible images without a public link
These look right for the site, but Bynder does not serve them through the public CDN link, so they would show as broken images. Use the button to open the asset in Bynder, where it can be fixed. The status was checked against the live CDN when this page was built.
